About The Six11 Project

A center for deep and transformative Jewish learning

The Six11 Project is a new Jewish learning community based in Los Angeles. Our aim is to not only build spaces for continued Jewish learning but to trace foundational principles and hidden or forgotten traditions, bringing them to light and back into the conversation.

Our programs include the Ancient Wisdom Series for High Schoolers, regular Torah services with our beloved Memorial Torah Scroll, regular community events, and ongoing focused learning series in Chumash, Mishna, Kabbalah and beyond.

We offer Jewish Angelenos of all ages opportunities to engage in deep and transformative Jewish learning. These gatherings are alive with curiosity, laughter, and deep reflection—fueled by people eager to engage with Torah in a setting that feels resonant, rigorous, and welcoming. Our goal is simple: to ignite a lifelong love of Jewish learning, empowering individuals to draw on the wisdom of tradition in building meaningful, purpose-driven Jewish lives.

Our Name

The name Six11 is rooted in the symbolism of the numerical value of the word Torah (611 = ת+ו+ר+ה), and also reflects the foundational relationship between the Written and Oral traditions. The numeric values for the Written Torah, (424) בכתב, combined with Oral Torah, (187) בעל פה, add up to 611.

Rabbi Brett Kopin

Founder/Executive Director

Rabbi Brett Kopin is the founder and Executive Director of The Six11 Project. He received Rabbinic Ordination from the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies at American Jewish University in Los Angeles in 2021. He served as a rabbi at Milken Community School in Los Angeles for three years as a high school educator and as the Middle School Division Rabbi. In August of 2023, he and his wife, Rabbi Sofia Zway, started a community for young Jews called Base LA, where they host and teach regularly. In January 2022, he co-authored a book with Dr. Ron Wolfson called Creating Sacred Communities, selected as the USCJ's 2022 "Big Read." He is also the co-screenwriter of the award-winning animated film, The Tattooed Torah.

David Silberberg

Chief Financial Officer

David Silberberg has over 20 years of leadership experience across M&A, Finance, HR, and Technology operations, and helps organizations navigate complexity, execute strategy, and drive sustainable growth. As CEO of Meta Resources Group, he leads teams that deliver pragmatic, high-impact solutions to improve performance, strengthen operations, and build enduring client relationships. Outside of work, David is passionate about emerging technology, investing, and supporting nonprofits and startups, contributing his time to help the next generation of entrepreneurs bring their ideas to life.

Rabbi Sofia Zway

Secretary

Rabbi Sofia Zway was born in Ecuador to two South African parents, but spent most of her life in South Africa. She received her Honors degree in Applied Theatre from the University of Cape Town and her Master of Arts and Rabbinic Ordination from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles. She’s had the privilege of serving diverse communities in Cape Town, New York, Los Angeles and Las Cruces, NM. She is also a DONA-trained birth doula. A lover of bad puns and good romcoms, Sofia and her husband, Rabbi Brett Kopin, are thrilled to be building sacred communities in Los Angeles together at Base LA and The Six11 Project.

Luis René Carrillo

Strategic Partnerships

Luis René Carrillo is a board-certified Emergency Nurse and U.S. Army Veteran, serves as an Emergency Room RN at Kaiser Permanente and as the Alumni Activator at Jewtina y Co. At Kaiser Permanente, he focuses on emergency nursing and quality improvement within a 57-bed emergency department. At Jewtina, he manages the professional network of the PUENTES Leadership & Resiliency Fellowship alumni, a role that aligns with his passion for elevating Latin Jewry in North America and revitalizing Jewish spaces in Los Angeles. Luis is currently a Doctor of Nursing Practice candidate and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner student at California State University, Long Beach, where his doctoral research centers on improving care for psychiatric patients in the emergency department. He also holds a BS in Nursing from Mount Saint Mary’s University and a BA in Modern Jewish Studies from California State University Northridge.

Marc Rashba

Board Member

As President of StreamingMethod LLC, Marc Rashba oversees partnerships for content companies monetizing on YouTube, Twitch, Facebook and all OTT with FAST channels and more. Previously, Marc was Executive Vice President of Partnerships at Cineverse, where he oversaw the global growth strategy for 25+ OTT channels for FAST, AVOD, SVOD, YouTube and other platforms and handled all 3rd party distribution partnerships. Prior to that, Marc worked at Sony Pictures for over 16 years in a variety of marketing and business roles. He oversaw the distribution successes of Breaking Bad, Outlander and Seinfeld on digital and then went on to create and take on a new role at the company as Vice President of Digital Partnerships & Development. Marc has been a dedicated leader in the Jewish community for over three decades, beginning as the head of the original youth group for the Sephardic Educational Center. Marc had also served on the Sephardic Film Festival committee. He also has had a long-standing commitment to Temple Aliyah transitioning from Director of Youth to key governance roles, including Director of the Ritual Committee, Nominating Committee and Special Board Advisor for a critical merger project in 2022. Marc served on the Community Outreach Committee for HaMakom and recently contributed his strategic expertise serving as a Board Advisor at Parks & Associates. He currently resides in California with his family.

Dr. Jeff Kopin

Board Member

Dr. Jeff Kopin is a practicing internal medicine physician in Chicago and a faculty member of the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University. He serves as senior vice-president and chief medical officer of the North Region of Northwestern Medicine. Jeff’s leadership in the community includes service as board president of the Solomon Schechter Day School of Metropolitan Chicago, president of Camp Ramah in Wisconsin, and president of the National Ramah Commission, the international organization of the Ramah Camping Movement. He also was a long-time board member and committee chair of the Jewish Federation/Jewish United Fund of Chicago. Jeff and his wife, Beth, split their time between homes in Chicago and Jerusalem.
